Derived from Greek “love oneself as a woman”.[6] Controversial term and concept coined by psychiatrist Ray Blanchard often used to stigmatize trans-women who love women and are aroused at the idea of having a female body.[7],[8] Blanchard’s outdated, judgmental and confusing typology mixes sexual orientation with gender identity and is not used to assess gender-dysphoric /gender-incongruent adolescents or adults for endocrine treatment, and rarely used in gender affirmation care. WPATH has rejected Blanchard’s findings and research due to a lack of empirical evidence.
